Succulents arrangement

I saw this beautiful succulents arrangement at the Bellagio hotel. I didn’t know succulents can be kept indoors?? The arrangment is beautiful.

Some succulents actually do better indoors because they prefer filtered light. However, the succulents in that container are not indoor friendly succulents! The Kalanchoe (large paddle shaped leaves, on the right side of the container) is obviously not happy. Its leaves are not supposed to flop over like that, they’re supposed to be erect. I have a Kalanchoe ‘Flapjacks’ and it likes full blazing sun. It also looks like there are a couple of cacti in that container that are either dead or almost dead.

I have Senecio rowleyanus ‘String of Pearls’ and a few echeverias inside near a east facing window in my kitchen. They’re pretty happy there.

Also, the succulents on the left–a sedum, graptoveria, or a graptosedum?–look like they’ve been streching towards the light. There is probably not supposed to be so much stem between leaves.

Gosh, I didn’t realize they were in such bad condition. I’ve never had succulents before so I had no idea.

Hey…just reading through your “succulent” category…I have had to learn (very slowly it seems) as to which plants require what amt. of light, water, etc. I had a beautiful flippin flapjack that had turned such a gorgeous shade of red in the winter sun outside in my succulent tire gardens, and when it sarted getting too much rain, I had to dig it out and pot it up for my screenroom in partial sun. It seems much happier now…saved it just in time! It’s all a big experiment with these guys…but so much fun! Come over and see all my succulents! I have pics of my screenroom and outdoor succulents several places in my blog…you will have to look around a bit! I hope you will really enjoy them…I love blogging about them so much! Nice to meet like-minded people! I will add you to my links so I can return and see what you are up to! Check out other links and resources on my blog too, for others like us who post about their succulents…gradually you can learn a LOT!!!!! :)
