Overwintering Hyacinth in containers

I bought some hyacinth bulbs back in Sept and didn’t get to plant them until now.  Overwintering bulbs in container is a little different than doing it in ground.  If you plant it in containers you can let the bulbs touch each other even though the package tells you to separate them by certain inches.  I’m planning to have this pot stay outside on the deck until the temperature freezes.  By then I will move it into the garage and make sure the soil is moist but not too wet, otherwise the bulbs will rot.
