The Garden Blogger Fall Color Project – New York

I missed "The Garden Blogger Fall Color Project" over at The Home Garden back in Sept.  Actually if I were to submit my pictures back in Sept there wouldn't be any fall colors because the leaves just started to turn colors this past week and it hasn't reached its peak color yet.  I love taking pictures and every year at this time, no matter how busy I am, I dedicate a day to shoot around.  Everywhere I go there are photo opportunities and I find myself taking over 100-200 pictures in a day.  Anyway, here are my photo submission, I hope you like it.  These pictures were taken at Storm King Art Center at Mountainville, NY.

  1. Louise,

The photos are great! I’ve always liked the shots of roadways with colorful fall foliage gracefully hanging above. The park looks like a wonderful place to visit. The project is an ongoing concept so no one is ever late, you’re right on time! I’ll add your blog to the update. Thanks for joining in!

  2. Storm King is stunning this time of year, isn’t it? I also took some photos and put them on my blog last week – I wonder if we were there the same day! These are great photos.

  3. Wow, justa gorgeous place! Reminds me of the tree covered road I grew up near in Minnesota. It was MAYBE 1.5 lanes wide, and skirted the steep hill down to the lake we lived on. Lots of fall color, gorgeous canopy, especially in winter with wet snow. Look, ther I go, getting lost like I tend to do when I leave comments on whomever’s blog I run across.

  4. Louise!!! What amazing photographs! Trees change colors in California, but not like that.

  5. Dave-thanks for the wonderful idea of a Fall project!

jen-yes I think Storm King is beautiful at this time of the year with the leaves changing color and the big sculptures. I actually went there on Sunday, just a week after you went!

Benjamin-thanks for visiting my blog! I’ve never been to Minnesota before but from what you just described I can imagine how nice it is.

Fern-thanks again for the nice comment. The fall foliage is beautiful in north east but I love the weather in California. Our temperature was in the forties this morning!

  6. Such a gorgeous place, and your photos are lovely. Your fall color is exceptional and I’ve enjoyed touring through your blog. :)

  7. Louise, these photos are stunning. Dave was right. You have a great eye. You also must have Photo Shop. I can’t say which is my favorite. Happy to have discovered your blog!

  8. Nancy – thanks for your nice comment. I have reading your blog for a while too and I’ve enjoyed it very much.

Sarah – thanks for coming by and for your nice comments. These were not touched by photoshop, it is straight from my point & shoot Canon S80. It has a function on the camera that captures one color and make everything black & white. I’m surprised at how it turns out. It really looks like I applied a filter to it, right? :-)

  9. Wow, what wonderful shots.
Strange, here you are just coloring up, and our trees up here have been stripped bare for about a week. Looking out the window at bare branches is just plain depressing. lol. Enjoy your color while it lasts.

  10. Tina-thanks for coming to my site and your nice comment! We had some high winds these couple of days and most of the leaves had fallen. I hope to sqeeze in some more shots this weekend before all the leaves are gone.

  11. You’ve caught some beautiful scenes in that lovely spot! Thanks for sharing them.
We’ve had glorious fall color this year, haven’t we? Ours has faded much too fast, as it always does. Such beauty should last much longer!
I’ve just noticed that even in the drizzling rain this morning the colors of the corn fields and still green meadows are popping. Might be a Kodak moment :)
