I use fish mix with red sugar (ordinary sugar will do) mix them 1:1 ratio. It produce unpleasant smell though but after about 3 weeks you can use it. My pumpkin grow to an average weight 5kilo each.

<div class="moderator-comments">
HC - fish heads are buried under the soil, so you wouldn't smell it. I can't imagine what it'll be like if they're left under the sun!

Rowena - my coworker tried the fish head fertilizer and her dogs dug them all up last year!

Kevin - did I read "hair" as fertilizer? I'd love to hear more about that!
</div>

My Grandfather was a Gardener in Beverly Hills for Bob Hope, Red Skelton and Jack Benny.
He was big on Fish Heads, Egg Shells and Hair all with great results.
Just planted a Haas' Avacado Tree today and used a 3 lb Fish Head which I got at an Asia Market for $2.

I like the idea of making use of waste...but seafood left-over seems a bit smelly after a day under the sun :-)
