Fern- you always amazes me with your plant combination ideas. I will definitely try your suggestions for “spiller” and “thriller”.

Jennifer- I had no idea this is so easier to grow. I first discovered it in Arizona and they are very forgiving and likes a little neglect!

Jen- definitely give it a try next year, they are the easiest and gorgeous plant you’ll have in the garden.

Oooh, we’re likely moving soon (if the bank ever gets around to finalizing our offer to buy a short sale condo…UGH!!!) and I have plans to hand window boxes around the balcony. Your photo here has inspired me to use portulaca. I have been planing on using succulents so that I won’t have to water them all the time. I think portulaca will be the perfect “filler” plant, with burro’s tail as the “spiller” and maybe aeonium as the “thriller.”

Moss roses have been a favorite of mine for years.Anything which is low maintenance will find a place in my garden.

I love the mix of colors you got! I grew some of this last year from plants that I bought and had to pinch them back a few times. I didn’t realize they’re easy to grow from seed – I’ll give it a try next year!
